Growing in Grace: Grace Amidst the Storm

tree 7

I hear the pitter patter of rain on my roof, and the slow growl of thunder makes itself known minute by minute. As I peer out the window I see the dark stormy clouds hanging low amidst the autumn sky, and I am reminded.

I am reminded of the times in my life that were not so full of sunshine. The days that were plagued by loss, heartbreak, disappointments. I remember those moments of grief, frustration, and hurt. The moments that many days my wishful thinking hopes to forget, but cannot, for it is etched into the very heart of who I am.

These moments of hardships are ones we may never fully understand. The brokenness of this world heeds much sorrow.

Sometimes all we can see amidst the storm clouds is darkness, but just as the rain washes down over the earth with its cleansing touch, so does the stillness of God’s grace, and peace, and hope wash over us even amidst the darkness of the storm.

For even in those dark days we remember that there is more than this.

We remember that the ultimate gift of grace God gave us, the grace of salvation, leads us to a place of more. More than what we are currently experiencing.

This life is not it. This heart ache is not it.

When we feel like the rain will never stop, and we can’t see past the storm clouds, we cling to His promise. His promise of more. The more that is brought to us because of His grace.

My friend, I don’t know what storm you are going through today, or maybe your life is sunshine right now, who knows? BUT, will you cling to His grace today? Remembering that no matter what this life holds, His grace whispers more.

2 Corinthians 4:16-17 “So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.”

  1. I am definitely clinging to grace in all things. Good and bad. This is such a beautiful post! I’m so glad you posted your link on “5 for 5” at the 31 days FB page! I was so encouraged by your words. Blessings!
